Moeen Munir Ali born on 18 June 1987, is an English cricketer who currently plays for England in limited-overs cricket.
He had made his debut in 2014 in all three formats and played for England’s Test team until 2021.
He was also part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
He received a call-up from England after Graeme Swann announced his surprise retirement.
He already had a reputation as an elegant batter however, he reached new heights after his off-spin bowling got noticed.
He became England’s third most-prolific spinner of all time after he finished scoring 3000 Test runs and 200 wickets.
He was a 50-over World Cup winner and a regular feature in the IPL.
He took 25 wickets and scored 252 runs during a series against South Africa in 2017 and played a significant role in England’s wins of the 2015 Ashes, as well as the 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka in 2018-19.
Even his outstanding 108 not-out, spread over 6-and-a-half hours and 281 balls, against Sri Lanka at Headingley took England to its win.
He went on to hit a 72-ball century in Colombo after he got promoted to the top-order batsman
He made 1270 runs in 2010 and 1375 runs in 2013. He also won the PCA’s Most Valuable Player award as he augmented his flair with increased discipline.
Ali had made several vital contributions in the regaining of the Ashes in 2015 and scored two test hundreds in the very next year in India.
