The players of the March month have been announced by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday. ICC announced the best players every month to recognize their efforts and celebrate their performances in the previous month. ICC picks one player from both the male and female category in the world.
According to the International Cricket Council’s announcement, Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the award for best player of the Month in the male category.
The player performance great in the recent series between India and England. India won all three series i.e. One Day International, T20 international, and Test series against England. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best bowler in all three formats of the game. Kumar was chosen by the votes of the people.
COMING BACK AFTER A BREAK OF ONE AND A HALF YEARS
When Kumar was asked about how he felt after winning player of the month, he said that he was glad that he won. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was out of the team for a long time before the India England series to which Kumar said that it was a very long gap and he was waiting eagerly to join the team back.
In the time when he was out, he worked hard on his skill and all the work did pay off. He thanked all the people who helped him in his cricket journey as well as to ICC.
The former Indian cricket player VVS Laxman also congratulated the player and said that it was a very good performance after such a long gap. Kumar was out of the team for more than one year due to injuries. He took that time in improving himself and he nailed his performance as he came back.
LIZELLE LEE IN THE FEMALE CATEGORY
From the female category, South African player Lizelle Lee won the player of the month award for March. In the ODI series against India, Lee scored a 100 and two 50s which took her at the 1st rank in the ICC rankings.
The ICC’s official said on Lee’s award that Lizelle Lee completely deserved the award. It was not easy to score runs on such a bad pitch and in poor playing conditions. But Lee’s hard work did pay off as she scored huge runs in the series.
