IPL 2021 – Match 14 Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Punjab Kings Preview

The Indian Premier League has been giving goosebumps to all young cricketers of India and worldwide. IPL started the franchised-based cricket tournament, and now it is ruling the cricketing world. In match 14 of the IPL 2021 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Punjab Kings on 21^st April 2021 at Chennai.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are on their losing streaks in this IPL 2021 season. PBKS started their campaign with a close win of four runs against Rajasthan Royals. But since then, they haven’t performed up to the expectations.

The Kings have lost two games on the trot. Their first loss came against CSK, where they batted poorly and their second loss against DC was because of their poor all-round efforts.

On the other hand, the orange army will have to perform well to win their first game this season. SRH has played two matches, and they have lost both of them. SRH need to change their strategy, and they need to bat first in this match.

Warner and co have failed to chase down the totals on both occasions. They also need to fit in Kane Williamson and Jason Holder as their overseas players. The middle-order if the orange army is weak without these two foreign stars. 

The Punjab Kings need solidity in the middle order. Chris Gayle and Deepak Hooda are in fine form. But they need to replace Nicholas Pooran with an overseas all-rounder like Fabian Allen or Moises Henriques.

The can be bowling of SRH has been led by Rashid Khan bring the number one T20 batsman Dawid Malan to their side. PBKS has the finishing skills which Shahrukh Khan gives. But they need to control the middle phrase of the innings well, which they didn’t do against DC.

Will SRH give another chance to Manish Pandey even after his two failures? The middle-order innings has collapsed because of Manish Pandey’s inconsistent run and poor shot selection. Pandey has international experience in dealing with pressure situations.

But he has not used them. His consistency has pushed him back, and the newcomers have gone ahead of him. Kedar Jadhav will be a suitable option at the number three position. Jadhav can also give his part-time spin if it is needed.

Rashid Khan has led the bowling of SRH, and they will continue their dependency to get wickets. But their pace bowling has been an issue. They need Bhuvneshwar Kumar to fire in the tournament and Sandeep Sharma to come well along with Natarajan and Thampi. If they don’t fire, it will be easy for the opposition to target these bowlers and play out the four overs from Rashid Khan without risk.

PBKS also has bowling strugglers, which they need to sort out. Arshadeep Singh is the only positive for them in the three matches. They need quick wickets in the powerplay overs, and the spin of the Kings also looks weak. That’s why they need Fabian Allen in the squad, who can be the third spinner for them.
