IPL 2021 – Match 12 Highlights Spinners turned the match for CSK, and that stunned RR

Jaddu picked two, and Ali picked up three wickets which allowed a collapse for RR in this run chase.

Chennai Super Kings won their second match of the IPL 2021 season in a convincing style. The Yellow Army hasn’t won a game at Wankhede Stadium whenever they have batted first.

But this time, their tables turned, and they bagged their first win while defending a score on the board. CSK won the match by 45 runs, and Dhoni and his men are second on the points tables.

RR won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 12th match of the IPL 2021 season. RR imposed wickets on regular intervals as the CSK batters didn’t score a substantial total. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s poor form continued.

He wasn’t timing the ball, and the RR pacers got the actual purchase from the Wankhede wicket, which made him look miserable again. He had another flop show with the bat as Mustafizzur Rahman ended his three overs stay for ten runs.

While Faf Du Plessis was doing his usual things at the other end, he took Jaydev Undakat for 19 runs in one over, and he played two paddle sweeps which went to the boundary twice.

He again smashed a grand six and ended that over with a boundary again. But his 17 balls 33 runs cameo ended when CSK lost Faf in the powerplay overs. CSK scored 46 runs and lost two wickets in the first six overs.

But none of the CSK batters could go past Faf’s 33 runs despite the starts they got, and the middle overs weren’t too bat for the Yellow Army. Moen Ali has cemented his number three spot in this batting lineup.

Moeen played another cameo knock for his franchise. But he also departed soon after a handy start to his innings. Ali scored 26 runs from just 20 deliveries.

Then the most experienced pair of Suresh Raina and Amabati Rayudu managed the middle proceedings well. Both the CSK batters went after the slower bowlers of RR. Riyan Parag went for 16 runs in his only, and Tewatia was taken for the cleaners by Rayudu.

Ambati smashed sixes on the trot in an over of Rahul Tewatia. The cameo partnership went well till the 14th over as Rayudu and Raina were out to Chetan Sakariya.

Then it was a revival for CSK. But Dhoni found it hard to middle the ball. Thalai scored 17 runs off 18 deliveries. Mahi was picked up by a slower delivery of Chetan Sakariya, who took his third wicket. Jadeja’s early wicket and Sam Curran’s one-ball six cameos was runout.

It was DJ Bravo who provided that finishing kick for CSK. He took 15 runs each from the last three overs. Bravo ended the innings on a high as he smashed a six of Fizz, who was sloppy in the end. CSK scored 189 runs in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

RR bowlers took wickets at regular intervals. But still, they couldn’t restrict CSK under 180 runs. Fizz was sloppy in his last over. But he picked up one wicket to his name with Chetan Sakariya picked up three wickets, Chris Morris took two, and Rahul Tewatia bagged one wicket to his name.

The run chase of 190 runs run target wasn’t well complied for the Double R’s. Jos Buttler and Manan Vohra’s partnership is like fun till it lasted. Vohra struggled to time the ball, and he could manage only 14 runs from the 11 deliveries. Sam Curran delivered a brilliant spell. He picked up three wickets in the powerplay overs.

But still, CSK struggled to make an impact in the innings through the middle overs phrase. But they made a comeback when they picked up five wickets for just eight runs of the RR innings.

Due to this collapse, the Rajasthan couldn’t ever make a Royal comeback despite Jos Buttler’s lone innings. But he was also dismissed by Jaddu for well-made 49 runs.

RR lost the match in the middle overs. It was Mahi’s masterstroke which CSK pave their way into the match. Jaddu kept on bowling with the dry ball, although he went for 22 runs in the two overs, and Jaddu also caught four catches in the match. The credit goes to Captain Cool as he placed the right fielders in the right positions.

Unadkat’s 24 runs and Tewatia’s 20 runs weren’t enough as RR still had a long target to chase. They ended their innings on 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Mloeen Ali and Sam Curran were the picks of the bowlers for the Yellow Army.

Ali picked up three wickets and earned a man-of-the-match award for his all-around performance. In comparison, Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Bravo and Shardul Thakur picked up one wicket each to their names.

Chennai Super Kings won this match by 45 runs, and they jump to the second position of the IPL 2021 season.
