Story Behind The Final Runs

Getting 15000 is a long journey and it can’t be summarized in just some words as it took years for Sachin to score 15000 however what we can describe is the moment when he scored his final runs. 

Sachin achieved this feat during the Future Cup against South Africa at Belfast on 29 June 2007. South Africa batted first and was restricted to a total of 226/6 in 50 overs. In the chase opening partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly put 134 runs on the scoreboard before Ganguly was dismissed.

 Sachin went on to get a score of 93 and reaching 15000 total ODI runs and India bagged the win against South Africa tying the 3 ODI series 1-1.

The Journey

Sachin made his debut in ODI Internationals against Pakistan at Jinnah Stadium on Dec 18, 1989 however, things didn’t go well for him as he got out on a 0 after facing only 2 balls. Even though his starting wasn’t ideal he didn’t lose hope, Sachin became one of the pillars of the Indian cricketing team with his consistent performance and flawless style.

He saw many ups and downs in his career whether due to injuries or back to back bad inning but he didn’t stop and became one of the greats of the sport. He had a batting average of 44.83 and a whopping 18426 runs when he retired.
