Sachin Tendulkar praises Jason Holder for smart captaincy in Manchester Test against England

Jason Holder has been well praised for an amazing captaincy in Manchester Test Series against England by master-blaster and the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar.

The West Indies cricket team is in England to play 3 Test matches for Wisden Trophy. For those who are unaware of Wisden Trophy, the trophy is exclusively given to the winner of the test series between West Indies and England. The series was started in 1963 between both the teams.

The matches were originally scheduled in May and June in 2020. But due to the Covid-19, the test has been rescheduled from 8th July to 28th July 2020.

1st test match was held between 8th to 12th July where West Indies won it by 4 Wickets

2nd Test match has already been started from 16th July, West Indies has won the toss this time and opted to go for bowling. But the match has been delayed again due to rains, still on the damp pitch of Manchester, the West Indies bowlers were able to dominate the England top-end batmans.

Indian cricket team legend Sachin Tendulkar is closely watching the test match between both the countries. He praised West Indies skipper Jason Holder for his smart captaincy in Manchester.

Sachin was impressed with Jason’s move to bowl a spinner in the damp pitch of Manchester which worked in the favor of off-spinner Roston Chase. Roston Chase was able to take out 2 wickets for this decision.

Just before the Lunch, Jason brought in Chase to bowl the 14th over and on the spinner’s second delivery has trapped Rory Burns. It seems that Rory has anticipated a turn but the ball came straight and hit him on the pads and he was out at 15 runs for 35 balls.

After lunch, Chase struck again as he sent Zak Crawley on a duck to the pavilion on the very first ball he bowled after the break.

Sachin twitted as “In the 1st session I noticed a few balls didn’t even carry to the keeper off fast bowlers indicating a lot of dampness in the pitch. Smart move by @Jaseholder98 to bring on a spinner on such a track where the oddball may grip and the other may go straight”.

Later on Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar again tweeted for both the team: “@root66 & @DomSibley are in a crucial partnership for England. WI needs to find a way to get breakthroughs while the ball is fairly new.

Old Trafford is a hard surface when it dries out hence the ball will become soft. A lot will depend on how the teams play the new ball.”

Sachin Tendulkar further suggested both the team on how to handle a new ball in a damp pitch.

The West Indies has won Wisden Trophy in 2019 and now we will get to know after 2nd test match who will take the trophy to home this time. The test match will perform a very vital role in the 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship.
