Most Dismissals As A Keeper In T20, MSD’s Record Broken By Alyssa Healy

In cricket when we talk about wicket-keeping we just get three names in our minds. Yes, Kumar Sangakkara, Adam Gilchrist, and MS Dhoni. These are the constant keepers who will always remain the best. Well, this was about men.

The women are not behind. In today’s age of woman empowerment, the ladies are excelling in every field and cricket is one of them. Recently in the second T20 game against New Zealand, Australian keeper Alyssa Healy, wife of Mitchell Starc, broke Mahi’s record in keeping.

Alyssa Healy Surpasses MSD

MS Dhoni who held a record of 91 dismissals as a keeper has been surpassed by Alyssa Healy of Australia in her second T20 match against New Zealand.

She broke the record by dismissing Lauren Down at Brisbane. Dhoni held his 91 dismissal record in 98 games with 34 stumping dismissals and 57 catches. Now that Alyssa Healy broke the records in 114 matches, she has 92 dismissals in her vault which include 42 catches and 50 stumping dismissals.

The Top 10 And More

The top ten wicket keepers with most dismissals are dominated by women with MS Dhoni at number two. Sarah Taylor from England is next in line with 74 wickets in 90 games which have 23 catches and 51 stumpings. Followed by her with 72 wickets in 75 games having caught 41 and stumped 31.

Then comes Mellisa Aguilleira, the former Windies keeper who has 70 wickets in 95 games. Tania Bhatia from India is close enough with 67 dismissals in only 50 matches. Tania is followed by South African keeper Trisha Chetty with 64 dismissals in 76 games.

After all these women, comes the keeper from Bangladesh, Denesh Ramdin having 63 dismissals in his vault in 71 games. Following Ramdin is another man from his country, Mushfiqur Rahim having dismissed 61 in 86 games.

Cessation

Australia Vs. The New Zealand T20 series has been absolutely delightful for the Aussies. They have won the series with a 2-0 lead looking forward to the third and last game of the T20 series. In the second game where the record was broken the New Zealand team was bowled out on 128.

After this set of T20 series, the women’s teams will head for ODI matches. It’s good that cricket is resuming everywhere over time. Stay connected with us for more cricket!
