Mark Wood still ‘chases the dream’ of playing Test cricket

Playing test cricket is a dream for every professional cricketer. Representing your nation in test cricket is a matter of immense pride as very less players get to play a test match for their nation. Test cricket is the oldest format of cricket ever since cricket originated. Cricket is popularly known as gentleman’s game and when we see test cricket we realise why it is called so.

The amount patience required by both the teams in order to get a favourable result out if the game is pretty high and every player needs to maintain the initial energy level till the very end of day 5.

All the legends who have ever dominated the game have shown their dominance against the opposition in this format very highly. Sachin and Shane Warne’s rivalry was most famous in the test cricket where Sachin and Warne played with so much determination for their teams that they both made it look like a competition between themselves.

An important limited over a player:

Mark Wood was key to England’s last year’s World Cup success and proved to be an important fast bowler for his team who could take wickets at important times. But his career has been shaky in the longer format of the game, as he has just played 16 tests in 5 years since his debut. His career has been interrupted by as many as 3 ankle operations which stopped him from playing the longer format of the game.

Wants to return to the test team:

However he is currently selected for the limited over format in T20s and ODIs against South Africa and will hope to do well in that series and come out on top so that he can make his chance in the upcoming test team of England’s tour of Sri Lanka.
