Make it or break it: Shah Rukh Khan to Gautam Gambhir after replacing Sourav Ganguly as KKR captain

Among eight franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders had likely the most blistering efforts in the Indian Premier League, it failed inaugural match of IPL in the year 2008 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Team player Brendon Mccullum with an astounding batting, he valiant unbeaten 158 runs in 73 balls and 140 runs victory over RCB, the highest- ever and a tremendous start.

With Captaincy of Sourav Ganguly and co-owner and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, kkr last match had a smashing inaugural match, but however, after the first match team, KKR started deteriorating. KKR fans were getting disappointed after every consecutive match, failed to qualify to knock out till 2011 leading to submerged stardom.

After a prevailing three years of attrition, KKR management took a courageous decision about the replacement of Sourav Ganguly by Gautam Gambhir as the new captain of KKR.

Sourav Ganguly was not sold by KKR in the auction and Gautam Gambhir was auctioned and was sold by mammoth INR 11.04 crore. Gautam revealed in a  Star show ” Cricket Connected “,  what Shah Rukh told after replacing Sourav — “This is your team, make it or break it, I will not interfere… I just promised him one thing, I don’t know where it’s gonna happen, but by the time I leave, whether it’s gonna be three years or six years, this franchise will be in a much better position,”

Gautam Gambhir in ipl 2018 stood up on his responsibility of captaincy with raw players like – Yusuf, Jacques, Narine, Russell, new help workers, brand new strategies.

This following bold decision didn’t dismay KKR management, fans, and especially Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner.

His aggressive and amazing captaincy leads his team to win over Chennai Super Kings in the final in IPL 2012. He scored 590 runs at a strike rate of 143.55 for 16 matches– KKR lifted their titled trophy in 2012. Similarly, he owned the IPL trophy in 2014 under his captaincy.

In 2018 Gautam Gambhir rejoined Delhi Daredevils, but until his presence as a captain in the KKR team won IPL titles for 2012 and 2014. With a doubt, less point of his belligerent and astonishing captaincy was worth it.

And so, stated by Joy Bhattacharya, the team director that Gambhir should not be said caption cool, he can take a bullet for his players in any difficult situation. So when anyone is standing with Gautam Gambhir, he should not think he is standing alone, that’s what happens with KKR.

Even Gautam said in show ” Cricket Connected” that if Russell would have played a few more years under his captaincy then KKR would have won more IPL titles as well excluding 2012 and 2014.
