Getting a name in ‘The Guinness Book of World Records is a matter of prestige and respect.  One of the most popular sports in the world, cricket has seen new heights with the inclusion of the T-20 game format in the Guinness Book. Many records have been created and broken in the world of cricket.

Below we will see the top ten cricket records made by cricketers.

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni has the record of the most expensive cricketer. 

Former Indian cricketer and skipper MS Dhoni’s bat which he used in the 2011 World Cup final was auctioned for £100,000 ($161,295) which was bought by  R K Global Shares & Securities Ltd (India). 

2.)  Shoaib Akhtar holds the record for the fastest delivery of a cricket ball.

This former Pakistani fast bowler bowls at consistently 150 km. He bowled at 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) in the 2003 World Cup.

3.) Jos Butler has the most expensive cricket shirt record in Guinness Book.

In the 2019 World Cup Jos Butler wore a shirt that was auctioned on eBay for £65,100 ($80,157) on April 8, 2020.

At the age of 59, Osman Göker did a debut for Turkey against Romania by breaking the record of Botswana’s James Moses who was 53 years 285 days old when he did a debut.

8.) John Wisden took ten wickets in an innings and all bowled.

He is the only bowler to clean bowled ten cricket players in an innings in the North versus South game held at Lord’s in 1850.

9.) Sachin Tendulkar has the maximum run record in the ICC World Cup tournament.

This West Indies player batted at No.12 during the second Test against India which was played at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica, from August 30 to September 2, 2019.
