Australia Tour Of Pakistan 2022: An Historic Event With Much Awaited Test Series

For the first time since 1999, the Australian Cricket Team will set foot in Pakistan for the upcoming Australia tour of Pakistan 2022, which begins with a three-Test series on March 4.

The tour is being labeled as historical because this will be the first time after 2009’s terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore that a team from a different country will be stepping into Pakistan to play a fair game of Cricket.

The first of the three tests will take place in Rawalpindi on March 4, followed by the remaining tests in Karachi and Lahore, and three ODIs and one T20 in Rawalpindi. On Friday, the test skipper of the Australian Cricket Team, Pat Cummins, said that his team is comfortable with the security arrangements made for the tour ahead.

Australia Coming Fresh With The Ashes Triumphant

The Aussies will be coming to Pakistan after their vibrant Ashes victor of 4-0 against England this year. But the Australian team will undoubtedly face challenges because they don’t know about Pakistan’s pitch and weather conditions.

Commenting on the same, Cummins said that the team is well aware of the fact that the conditions in Pakistan will be completely surprising for them, and he wants his team to prove their talent by bagging a win in a Test series overseas.

On the other hand, the Pakistan team will be coming to face Australia after a good season of PSL.

Australia and Pakistan have previously faced each other in 66 test matches, out of which Australia won 33, 15 by Pakistan, and 18 ended with a draw.

The ball is in Australia’s court on the records sheet, but we don’t know whether the history will change its course as the Australian team will end their 24-year streak of not playing a single game of Cricket in Pakistan.

AUS vs. PAK: Complete Squads For The Test

Australia has a full-strength squad on their side for their first overseas Test tour after three years. Jhye Richardson is the only player who will not be seen in the Australian team’s Pakistan trip due to an injury. In the Test Squad, we have:

Australia’s Squad: Pat Cummins (C), Steve Smith (VC), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mithcell Marsh, Michael Neser, Mitchell Starc, Mithcell Swepson, David Warner.

On the other side of the pitch, Haris Rauf’s name has come as a surprise for the cricket fans as he returns to the squad replacing off-spinner Bilal Asif. In Pakistan’s den, we have:

Pakistan‘s Squad: Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan (VC), Abdullah Shafique , Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haw, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Zahid Mahmood

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz will not be a part of the Test series against Australia due to a foot injury. Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the news on February 23, 2022.

On the sheets, both the teams are looking equally strong. While one is flying to Pakistan to continue their winning reign after the Ashes, the other will be defending the crown in this historic tour of Australia.
