Kohli Could Break Sachin Tendulkar’s Record In His 100th Test In Mohali

After winning the T20 series against Sri Lanka, the eyes of the Indian team will be on winning the Test series. A new era of Indian Test cricket will begin with the first Test match to be played in Mohali.

For the first time, Rohit Sharma, who was not in the Indian team even three years ago, will be seen as a regular captain in Test matches. The Test match in Mohali will be Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match. Virat Kohli can also set a big record in his name in this match. Even Sachin Tendulkar could not make this record in his name.

The first Test match will start in Mohali on Friday 4th March. This will be the 100th Test match of Virat Kohli’s career. This match is an ample opportunity for Kohli, who has not been in form for long.

Seeing Kohli’s great record against Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s current form, many are hopeful that Kohli will score a century in this match if he plays a little better.

Once established in the team, every cricketer dreams of playing 100 Test matches for his country. Virat Kohli will be happiest if he can make this day more special by scoring a century in the 100th Test match held in Mohali. Earlier, 11 Indian cricketers played 100 Test matches.

So far, 80 players have played 100 Tests in world cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of the list after playing 200 Tests. At the same time, James Anderson is second with 179 Tests, and Ricky Ponting is third with 16 Tests. Anderson, Stuart Broad, Joe Root, Ishant Sharma, and Nathan Lyon are now the only active players who have played more than 100 Tests. In such a situation, Virat will also join this special club as soon as he enters the field in the next Test.

If Virat scores a century in this match, he will become the first Indian cricketer to score a century in the 100th Test. Earlier, stars like VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar reached this milestone for India. But none of them achieved this feat.

Only nine players in the history of Test cricket have scored a century in their 100th Test. Colin Cowdrey of England made this feat for the first time in 1986. They also include Pakistan’s Javed Miandad, West Indies’ Gordon Greenidge, England’s Alec Stuart, Pakistan’s Inzamam-ul-Haq, Australia’s Ricky Ponting, South Africa’s Graeme Smith, and Hashim Amla and England’s Joe Root. Aussie legend Ricky Ponting is the only player to score a century in both innings of that Test.
