Zak a year older: The pacer who circled Smith, the ‘swing king’ who rocked opponents abroad; Happy Birthday Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan has probably been India’s best-left arm pacer ever. He took 610 international wickets helping India become no.

1 test side and then aiding India to win the World Cup in 2011. MS Dhoni referred to Zaheer as the Sachin Tendulkar of bowling. His swing bowling was an absolute treat to watch for any cricket fan.

We celebrate his career by reading this post as he celebrated his birthday on 7th October.

An amazing career:

He made his debut on a big platform against the mighty Aussies in the champions trophy of 2000 and was quite impressive in that match. He continued to be the backbone of India’s bowling line up through the first and half of the second decade of the 21st century taking 311 test wickets and 282 ODI wickets.

He was best known for his swinging ability with the new as well as the old ball. His reverse swing in the death overs made it impossible for the batsman to go for big shots against him.

Domination over Graeme Smith:

He was the only bowler to have domination over undoubtedly the best captain of South Africa- Graeme Smith. He got his wicket 13 times in all formats. Graeme Smith who was feared by almost every opposition failed to even score a century against India, all credit to Zak.

Such was the influence of the legendary Indian bowler that even the new youngsters learned from him a lot. The most memorable moment of his life was lifting the 2011 cricket World Cup in which he finished as the joint highest wicket-taker taking 22 wickets.

  1. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be
actually something which I think I would never understand.

It seems too complex and very broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
