World Test Championship final to go ahead, says Cricket Australia.

The World Test Championship 2019-2021 has started with its first test from 1st August 2019 and is supposed to be finished with its final test match in England in Lord’s in June 2021. 

As we all know that somehow the cricket teams have started playing on the test series after a lot of discussions and cancellations, and the pandemic due to Covid-19 has impacted it very badly. After the lockdown which has been pushed from March 2020, many test matches have been canceled until now and ICC has also discussed whether to go ahead with these matches or not. 

According to Cricket Australia, the next year’s inaugural World Test Championship final in England should be moved forward. According to the records of the previous matches, the qualification required to play further matches is under lots of questions and there are lots of cancellations and postponement can be witnessed in the matches. As per the statement, The teams have to complete the backlogs by next year March.

According to the tournament rules, each team is supposed to play with 6 other opponents, in which 3 will be at home and the other 3 will be at other locations. All team members will play the same number of series, but it doesn’t mean that they will play the same number of test matches. At the end of the matches, the top two teams will play the final in England in June 2021. There is a total of 9 teams who had participated in the league and India is at the top as of now. Australia is just behind the Indian team with a few points. 

According to CA Chairman Earl Edding, The United Kingdom has been in very bad shape due to the Covid-19 situation. He is hoping that the players should be taken care of properly so that they should not get infected with this deadly virus. He also mentioned Australia’s next tour to South Africa in February 2021. As per his knowledge, the Covid-19 situation is bad in Africa too. 

This year Covid-19 played a very pivotal role in the financial crisis in the cricket world all around. So this league can bring some strength to cricket and hoping that the tournament should go on.
