Which Five cities can become the franchise of the IPL 2022 season?

The BCCI has announced that the Indian Premier League will become a ten-team tournament in the IPL 2022 season. As a result, there will be two new franchises for the next year’s season, and the tournament will have five overseas players in the playing XI of all the teams of this cash-rich league tournament.

In the 2011 IPL season, there were ten teams in the tournament. Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala played the seasons. But BCCI banned the Kochi franchise in 2012, and they also called off the Pune team. So again, it is an eight-team tournament in the IPL.

The IPL 2022 season will have a mega auction. So the new franchises will be able to buy the best players in their team. Today we name the five cities that might be an IPL franchise in IPL 2022 season –

Pune – The city can again be the franchise of the IPL, and for the IPL 2022 season, we can consider it as the new franchise team. The city has played the tournament earlier with the names of Rising Pune Supergiants and Pune Warriors India.

PWI has played the IPL seasons of 2011 to 2013, and RPS played the IPL in 2016 and 2017 when RR and CSK were banned for those seasons. The city also has a stadium. IN PUNE, the MCA Stadium has hosted two test matches, Three T20Is, and four One Day International matches. Recently it also hosted the three-match One Day International series between India and England.

Ahmedabad –  The city can also be considered as the franchise of the IPL 2022 season. The city also has the largest stadium in the world. The newly built Shri Narendra Modi stadium has a sitting capacity of 132,000 people who can watch the game simultaneously.

This stadium also hosted the two test matches and the five-match t20I series between India and England. The IPL 2021 playoff and the final were also scheduled to be played in this stadium. But the postponement of this season had ruined all the plans. Still, Ahmedabad can be the franchise for IPL 2022 season.

Lucknow – This can be the third city that can be considered the IPL 2022 season franchise. Lucknow also has a stadium which has a sitting capacity of fifty thousand people. The stadium was also given as the third home ground for Afghanistan Team. The stadium had hosted five One-day International matches between West Indies Vs Afghanistan and the three T20I matches between India and South Africa.

Indore – The fourth city which can be the next franchise of the IPL in its edition. Indore also has a stadium which is the luckiest venue for India in the International cricket arena. The Holkar Stadium can be the home ground for the new IPL teams. One Test match and four ODIs have been played at this venue. Indore is the cleanest city in India, and it is known as a popular city as well.

Kochi – The last city can be considered a new franchise of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. Kochi was part of the previous IPL season, and it can be considered again. The city also has a stadium which has the capacity of 60,500 people. The Stadium in Kochi has also hosted the home games for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise in the IPL 2011 season as the home ground. Therefore, this city can be the IPL franchise once like the previous 2011 season.
