Indian Premier League, popularly known as IPL is a twenty-20 cricket tournament that is played by players from all over the world.
It was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. However, its inception was in 2008 in a high-profile ceremony in April, in New Delhi.
It is believed that vice president Lalit Modi was the mastermind in introducing the IPL. It is also believed that he is the one who designed the whole format of the tournament along with trophies and other prizes.
The purpose to begin this league was to change the way of playing cricket.

Major Rules Of The IPL
Like all other sports IPL also has its own rules like
- Every IPL team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in their squad of eleven.
- IPL team players don’t have any local quota.
- Every IPL team is required to have at least 16 players.
- There is no limit of time for the IPL teams as the game uses TV timeouts for their innings.
- A-list players and under 19 players are welcomed to play the IPL and there is no restriction for other players too.
