What happened in Sharjah that never happened in IPL, the number of runs scored in seven matches

Due to the pandemic, BCCI decided not to arrange IPL for this year. But later on, it was decided that IPL could be arranged by taking into account safety measures for everyone.

SHARJAH STADIUM

Earlier, Sharjah Stadium was known for the yorker ball of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis that the batsman couldn’t even play. However, eventually, now the stadium has become very favorable for the batsman and agony for bowlers. 

However, this year is not the same, Sharjah has changed as in just 4 matches it has created several different records. As of now, scores above 200 were very difficult to be made and even tougher to chase. However, teams have scored runs above 200 in consecutive 7 innings. Pitch in Sharjah is very flat making it further easy for the batsman.

Because of its shorter dimensions, more sixes recorded in Sharjah than the Dubai cricket stadium and Abu Dhabi cricket stadium. Even though the majority of matches are being played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Sharjah accounts for a greater number of sixes. 

So far, a total of 111 sixes have been recorded in Sharjah. Before the battle, CSK along with KXIP has struck around 81 sixes in Dubai and nearly 66 sixes in Abu Dhabi.

And it doesn’t get better, at this venue since the league has started and a single century has been scored as of now. Hope that we get to see some good knocks and even centuries by many players on the other grounds too. As of now, in 12 winnings a total of 1911 runs have been made. 

While in Sharjah, a total of 1685 runs have been scored in eight winnings so far. Talking about Dubai stadium, a total of 2275 runs have been scored in its first seven matches so far. 

RECORD OF HIGHEST TOTAL CHASING

The record of chasing the highest total has also been made on the same ground in the history of IPL. On 27th September 2020, KXIP had scored 223 runs with the loss of 2 wickets.

However, RR with their incredible batting line up scored 226 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. The tables turned when Tewatia struck 5 sixes in an over of Cottrell making him one the most expensive bowlers.
