UAE v Ireland ODI delayed following the four additional COVID-19 positive cases


The governing body of the United Arab Emirates, Emirates Cricket Board stated that the 50 overs play that is the One day international clash between the teams United Arab Emirates and Ireland which was scheduled to be played in Abu Dhabi on the forthcoming Tuesday. 

Unfortunately, the clash between these two teams has been delayed, as they found additional four cricketers from the United Arab Emirates team have been examined positive for the Covid-19 virus. This clash which was scheduled to play on the forthcoming Tuesday was not the first game between these teams but the third game in the four match game series between the two.

The very first clash between these two teams was played without any problems and as planned as well earlier on the Friday, however, the subsequent game that was scheduled for previous Sunday, but subsequently it was delayed to 16th January as three players from United Arab Emirates cricketers there are Chirag Suri, Aryan Lakra, Alishan Sharafu have been found infected by the Covid-19 virus. 

The Emirates Cricket board stated that as they have found another four unnamed cricketers from United Arab Emirates infected with the virus, subsequently, it has agreed on to hold off the clash that was scheduled to be played on the Tuesday after the disclosure of fresh guidelines from the authorities in UAE. 


The Emirates Cricket board continued that the United Arab Emirate squad would stay in isolation for a long interval of time. However, the Governing body didn’t publish any amended roster for the upcoming games. We will have to hold up for the same for a while now. 

They added that there are conference being held with all the concerned parties, comprising the pertinent councils, regarding the rearrangement of the left out games between the two teams. 

In the initial game between the two teams, United Arab Emirates successfully defeated Ireland with 6 wickets in hand earlier on Friday. The Ireland squad was organised to play four One-day Internationals prior to another three One-day Internationals to take on Afghanistan which is scheduled to be held at the exact venue. 

The United Arab Emirates had earlier hosted one of the most popular cricket league, Indian Premier League in the three bio-bubble environment the previous year.
