Top Three Replacements Of Mahendra Singh Dhoni As The Captain From The IPL 2022 Season

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been a legendary name in Indian Cricket History. He is the only man in the IPL who has been leading a same IPL franchise since the first season of 2008.

MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings share a brilliant love story which is not seen in many movies nowadays. He has won three IPL trophies and two Champions League titles for Chennai Super Kings so far.

The most successful Captain for India and CSK has done a tremendous job as a leader, batter, and wicketkeeper. In 14 and half seasons of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings has qualified for the playoff stages ten times.

This year, they had played well, and they were on the second spot on the points table. But the COVID 19 surge had quashed all the hopes of qualification of the Yellow Army in the IPL 2021 season.

Mahi is the oldest player in the history of the Indian Premier League. But he has the multi-talented skills in him. His replacement is the only thing that will make the CSK fans emotional because we all know that CSK will not get another Captain Cool like MS Dhoni ever in the generations to come.

But still, the day will come when the Thalai will have to say goodbye to his CSK franchise. MS Dhoni cannot be the part of his CSK team forever, and that is why we shall bring you the three players who can take over the captaincy from MS Dhoni in IPL Cricket –

Suresh Raina – The first obvious choice to take the captaincy from Dhoni is the Chinna Thalai, Suresh Raina. He has been the top performer for Chennai Super Kings since 2008. Raina is also the senior-most player in the Yellow Army.

We call him Mr. IPL because of his consistent performance. Last year, CSK faced a huge setback, and they didn’t qualify for the playoff berth. The main reason was that Suresh Raina wasn’t part of the IPL 2020, played in the United Arab Emirates.

Suresh Raina is the third-highest run-scorer in the history of the cash-rich league tournament. Raina is a handy bowler as well. He has been a partnership breaker for India and CSK. Till now, Raina has scored one century and 39 half-centuries in this T20 competition.

He has also taken 25 wickets to his name as a part-time bowler. Raina is a highly experienced player for the Yellow Army so that he can be the choice of Dhoni’s replacement as the skipper of CSK.

Ravindra Jadeja – The spin all-rounder has been an important player for his team in all formats. Jaddu adds batting depth, and he is a crucial bowler for India and CSK. Jadeja, too, has been the senior pro for CSK since 2012. He has the experience and ability to be the future Captain of Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja was groomed under Dhoni, and now he is also the best finisher for the Yellow Army.

He has scored 2290 runs in 191 IPL matches. He has smashed two half-centuries and picked up 120 wickets as well. He is a fantastic fielder who saves drive around to save runs for the team, and he has an accurate throw that enables the batsmen to complete the second run with ease. He has taken 76 catches and affected 23 runouts in IPL so far.

He can be a dasher in the last over. He smashed RCB’s Harshal Patel and scored 37 runs in the last over. In that match, he also took three wickets and affected one run out. This spectacular lad can be the second choice to replace MS Dhoni as the Captain of CSK.

Sam Curran – If CSK is looking to invest in the overseas players, they can consider this England all-around as their Captain. Sam has been a crucial member of the CSK unit for two years. Curran started his IPL career with CSK last year. Now he has been a leading wicket-taker for the Yellow Army. In the last season, he took 13 wickets in 14 matches, and in IPL 2021 season, Curran played seven matches, and he picked up nine wickets.

Sam can also open the batting as he did in the few games of the IPL 2020 season, and he can bat down the order to pile up the runs in the last few overs. Overall, Sam Curran scored two fifties and picked up 32 wickets in his IPL career. He is a promising young talent who can handle the captaincy pressure in an event like the IPL.
