New Zealand made history by beating India by eight wickets in the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton yesterday.
In this last match, Team India struggled against New Zealand. The Kiwis overtook India in all departments of the game. This win for New Zealand was the first in an ICC event. Before the start of the final match, many cricketing experts predicted that India would have a tough game against New Zealand in the final and that eventually was true.
The Kiwis dominated India throughout the match and performed brilliantly.
Today we shall tell you the three reasons why India lost the final of WTC-
India’s poor outing – The main cause for the loss at the World Test Championship was India’s Batting. The Indian batters were not in the best of form in the final match.
Many expected Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill to perform better. But despite the decent start
the openers couldn’t kick on.
Virat Kohli, Rahane and Pujara should have held the innings together. But they couldn’t do it in both the innings. Then the lower order didn’t contribute as they did in Australia.
India’s defeat was also because of their bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless in this match. His form in 2021 will be a concern for Virat and co.
Unpredictable Weather –
The rains played a role of spoilsport for India in the ICC World Test Championship final.
The Indian team is used to play on flat and dry surfaces. India has always had problems in England’s seam and swinging conditions.
Apart from the reserve day of the last match, the Weather was bad. It rained on the first and fourth day of the final and the surface was bouncy and the ball did zip around.
Condition like these
are considered unfavourable for the Indian players. That is why Indian batters proved helpless against New Zealand’s top bowlers.
The Indian team didn’t play the practice match – Before the final of the ICC World Test Championship, the Indian team did not even play a practice match. If the Indian team had played a practise match against England’s A team or other teams, they would certainly have been prepared for this final event. But due to the Corona protocols, India did not get the practice match. The Indian team. played an intra-team practice match in Southampton before the final. That turned out to be insufficient for the preparation for the final match.
Team Kiwi has an advantage when it comes to winning the tests series Before they played in the ICC World Test Championship final against India.
New Zealand competed in a series of two tests against England. The Kiwi team won the series by 1-0. , New Zealand had plenty of opportunities to get used to the conditions in England and that momentum of winning the test series against England also stayed with the Kiwis. So they easily defeated India in the WTC final.
