India has recently done well in the Test matches which they have played. They won their second consecutive series Down Under, and they defeated England convincingly at home, and both the places, India lost the first test match by a mammoth margin, and they bounced back well to win the series from that position.
Virat and his men will travel to England to face New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. India has announced a 20 member squad for that event and the five-match Test series against England in August. But India will have a highly important task of choosing the perfect eleven for that final.
There will be some selection headache as some players will not make it to the playing XI of India’s WTC Final squad. The 20 man squad is well equipped to face the challenges of England conditions. But still, the Indian batsmen will be tested with their temperament and techniques to handle the duke ball under swinging and seaming conditions.
In today’s segment, we shall tell our views, readers, and fans about those three players who will not fit into India’s playing XI in the World Test Championship Final against New Zealand. But these players might get a chance in the five-match Test series against England from August 4th to September 14th, 2021.
Hanuma Vihari – Vihari, and Ashwin were the ones who had saved the Sydney Test match for India. They battled out the crucial overs, which ensured a historic test series win in Australia.
After Pujara and Pant were out, India lost the hope of saving the SCG Test match on the last day. But Vihari and Ashwin’s fighting spirits came in the way of the big Aussies, and the hosts couldn’t pave their wave into the series because of these two.
Hanuma missed the last test match and the series against England at home. But even if he was fit, Hanuma wasn’t the go-to man for India still. In 12 matches, Vihari has scored 624 runs with one century and four fifties. Vihari is in England already. He is playing in the County Championship. But still, he needs to do well there.
Axar Patel – The spin bowling all-rounder had a magnificent Test series against England at home. He used the conditions perfectly at Ahmedabad and made the contest as one-way traffic for India. Axar was the replacement to Ravindra Jadeja, who was out because of his thumb injury.
But now Ashwin and Jadeja are both fit to play the WTC Final, and so it is unlikely that Axar Patel could make it to the playing XI of the WTC Final. Axar Patel has already picked up 27 wickets with four five-wicket hauls and one four-wicket haul in his Test career, and they may be the reason why Patel has been included in the squad.
But still, he won’t make it to the playing XI as Washington Sundar will be the third spinner if India decides to play with three spin bowlers for that ICC event.
Shardul Thakur – The boy from Palghar took a lot of trouble to make to the International Cricket arena. The story of Shardul Thakur is inspiring to every Indian budding cricketer, and it teaches that hard work always pays off. Shardul had a dream debut in Australia.
His knock at the Brisbane test laid a foundation for the series win in that country. In the two test matches, which Shardul has played, he had major roles in both them. Thakur adds depth in the batting as well, and in the absence of Bhvneshwar Kumar, India might need that batting depth.
But India might go with the three fast bowlers, Bumrah, Shami, and Ishant. So Shardul Thakur might not play the WTC Final. But he can be considered for the five-Test matches against England.
