The Domestic Players Who Can Make Their Debuts Under Rahul Dravid For Lankan White Ball Tour

India will play three ODIs and T20I matches on the white ball tour of Sri Lanka. The tour starts from July 13th, 2021, and the Indian team is gearing up for that limited-overs series under a new coach, Rahul Dravid, and with the new support staff of the National Cricket Academy.

Rahul Dravid has agreed to the offer to coach the white ball team in this series. The Indian Test team will be busy in England during this series, and the stars like Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah, Jadeja, Pant, and Sundar will be playing the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the five series Test series against England with their regular head coach Ravi Shastri and the support staff members.

On this white-ball tour, India will give a chance to many uncapped players. These players will have a direct chance to learn many things from the legend, Rahul Dravid. Today we shall name the five players who can make their debut for India in the series against Sri Lanka –

Devdutt Paddikal – The opening batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore is a promising young talent. He had lite the IPL 2020 season, and even though RCB didn’t qualify for the finals, Devdutt Paddikal was a big positive for Virat and his red men. He had scored 473 runs in IPL 2020, and he has been consistently scoring runs in domestic matches.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Karnataka opening batsman scored three centuries and half-centuries. He was the second-highest run-scorer for his team in that tournament.

In IPL 2021, Paddikal also smashed an unbeaten century against Rajasthan Royals. The records cannot write off Paddikal, and he can make his debut for India in this white ball series.

Harshal Patel – The pace bowler from Royal Challengers Bangalore was the shining light for Virat and his men in IPL 2021. He was the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians in this year’s cash-rich league tournament. The right-arm medium pace bowler took 17 wickets, and he was the leading wicket-taker in the first half of the IPL 2021 season.

Harshal Patel was also in the race of winning the purple cap in this year of the tournament. Patel gave a good performance with the ball, and he is another suitable candidate to make an International debut for India in this series.

Rahul Tewatia – The spin bowling all-rounder from Rajasthan Royals can also debut India in the white ball series against Sri Lanka. India might pick Krunal Pandya as their spin bowling all-rounder. But still, they can afford to give Rahul Tewatia a chance in this series. He couldn’t make his T20I debut for India against England.

Rahul Tewatia can strengthen the batting in the middle order, and he can give his spin bowling services. Rahul has played well for the Double R’s franchise in the IPL 2021 season. He scored 86 runs and picked up two wickets in five innings. The IPL 2020 was a good one for Tewatia.

He also played a match-winning knock against Punjab Kings, which helped RR chase down a mammoth score. He has scored 255 runs and picked up ten wickets in eleven innings of the last season.

N Jagdeshan – The wicket-keeper batsman hasn’t got any limelight and chances to prove his mettle. Jagdish is a part of Chennai Super Kings. But still, he has not played many matches for the yellow Army in the cash-rich league tournament.

Jagdish had impressed in the season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021. He was the highest run-getter in that tournament with 364 runs and three half-centuries in the eight matches of that domestic tournament. Indian regular keepers will be in England. So there will be a chance of Jagdeshan’s debut in the series against Sri Lanka.

Kedar Devdhar – Like N Jagdeshan, Kedar Devdhar is also a wicket-keeper batsman waiting in the wings. But he also does not have the limelight of the IPL like Tewatia, Paddikal, and Harshal Patel. However, Kedar has scored runs in the domestic seasons.

He scored 349 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the 2021 season, and he was the second-highest scorer in that tournament. He also smashed two fifties. But it will be difficult for Devdhar to make his debut as Samson and Kishan will be there in the squad, and both the wicket keepers batters have played for Indian in the past.
