For the unversed, The Indian allrounder, Washington Sundar, was recently playing in the LV County Championship for Lancashire against Northamptonshire.

On the cusp of lunch, Washington and Williams forged an unbroken 69-run seventh-wicket partnership in just 27 overs.

Although Washington has a strong batting background, Williams had only batted at No. 7 the night before, and he remained there with impressive obduracy as Lancashire, who were down by five runs overnight, chipped away the final 86 runs they required with efficiency. 

Sanderson, who is frequently the inspiration for Northamptonshire, had his limits slashed by Washington twice, but not today.
