Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, made history on Friday (July 29) by being the first female cricketer to achieve a half-century at a Commonwealth Games (CWG).

Thus SunRisers Hyderabad congratulated her along with Renuka Singh for their marvelous knocks against Australia via a tweet.

“52(34) for the Skipper & 4/18 for the new-ball specialist 🙌

@ImHarmanpreet & Renuka Singh were #TeamIndia’s top performers vs 🇦🇺 in their first match of the #CWG2022.”

For the unversed, Women’s cricket debuted in the quadrennial event in Birmingham in 2022 for the first time ever.

On Friday, July 29, at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Harmanpreet achieved the milestone while playing the World Champions Australia in the first game of the competition.

Harmanpreet hit the milestone after winning the toss and deciding to bat first in just 31 balls.

A good 154 points have been scored by the Women in Blue, giving them a chance to begin their campaign with a decisive victory.

Shafali Varma, the opening batsman, played a significant knock of 48 in only 33 balls.

Prior to that, 2020 T20 World Cup runner-up Smriti Mandhana provided the team a strong start with a hit of 24 in 17 balls as the star opener and vice captain.

While the best bowler was Renuka Singh, who was playing in just her seventh T20I. She finished with a 4/18 in her four-over stint.

She struck out the top four batters: Tahlia Mcgrath, Beth Mooney, Alyssa Healy, and Meg Lanning.

Particularly when she was batting at 14, Mcgrath received a devastating inswinger from the seamer that got through her barriers.

It was a dream delivery from a 26-year-old cricketer, which left the commentators speechless.
