A warm welcome to our die-hard fans of cricket! We always heard about the rebels of India and Pakistan but today we’ll bring you the unimaginable bonding between an Indian and Pakistani cricketer named Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi.
How is it possible that Shahid hit his fastest century with Tendulkar’s bat, lets dig inside buddies!
Shahid Afridi, a Pakistani international cricketer born on 1 March 1975, chiefly known as Boom Boom, is the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team and known for his tremendous bowling that relied on a change of pace rather than spin.
He was the world record holder for the fastest ODI century and hits the most sixes in the history of ODIs. He is a better bowler than a batsman as holds the second position on the chart of most T20I wickets, with marvelous 98 wickets from 99 matches.
Why Shahid Afridi credited his success to Tendulkar!
In 1996, Shahid Afridi played a match against Sri Lanka in Nairobi which was his second International ODI, and in that match, he hits the fastest century of his whole 18 years career in just 37 balls.
Surprisingly, the bat by which he hits the ground is of his then-teammate Waqar Younis and it was gifted to him by none other than the Indian cricket charm Sachin Tendulkar. This bat makes the Afridi a real batsman and hence the half-credit goes to Sachin.
Afridi in an interview states that he didn’t get a chance to bat because he holds the sixth position in bating as those days the two Sri Lankan openers Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana were used to attack upfront.
But when his turn came, he hit the ground so well that nobody can imagine. After his mind-blowing century, he becomes one of the biggest players of ODIs of Pakistan and eventually becomes the captain too!
Hence, sometimes hard work will itself combines luck and glows the match! Stay tuned to know more inspirational and mysterious stories of renowned cricketers!
