Kapil Dev recently talked about how Sachin didn’t convert the 100s into 200s and 300s and how that was one of the things he could have improved. Let’s learn more about the conversation!
Sachin is one of the finest batsmen of all time and all the records he made over his career are proof of that. He has scored 51 centuries in his international Test career however he only scored 6 double centuries and never reached 300 scores in his test career.
In a recent interview with former Indian Batsman and current Indian women’s team coach WV Raman, Kapil Dev also pointed it out as he said “Sachin had so much talent that I hadn’t seen it in anyone.
He knew how to score hundreds but he never became a ruthless batsman. Sachin had everything in cricket. He knew how to score hundreds but didn’t know how to convert those hundreds into 200s &300s.”
Kapil clarifies that this doesn’t mean he thinks Sachin wasn’t good, he believes that Sachin was one of the finest cricketers if not the finest cricketer India has produces but he lacked the aggressive style that one should show after scoring a century.
He also said that he could have scored one boundary each over and would have scored many more double centuries but he instead went to take singles after the milestone.
In his opinion, Sachin should have scored at least 3 triple centuries and at least 10 more double centuries because of how talented he was.
He thinks that the reason for this is the teachings of the Mumbai School of cricket which say that when you make a hundred draw a line and start from zero again which might have held Sachin back from scoring more double and triple centuries.
The game is unpredictable and you never what might happen maybe Sachin could have scored many more double centuries if he has played more ruthlessly after scoring a century but we will never know. Stay tuned with us to learn the latest news in the sports world.
