RR vs MI Head to Head in IPL

The Indian Premier League was introduced by the BCCI in which different teams compete with each other. Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians have played 29 head-to-head matches of which 15 were won by Mumbai Indians and 13 were won by Rajasthan Royals, 1 match was withdrawn due to rain.

In the first season of the IPL, the first match played between MI and RR, the match won by Mumbai Indians by seven wickets. RR was bowled out on 103 in the seventeenth over. MI chased the target in just 15 overs and won the match. The first match was played at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. 

The second match between both teams was played in Jaipur. Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bowl first. MI scored 145 runs in 20 overs and Rajasthan chased the target easily with five wickets remaining. Sohail Tanvir got Man of the Match, as he took crucial 4 wickets in the match.

In the second season of the IPL, both these teams got to play only one match because another match had no result due to rainy clouds. That’s why both of these teams got one-one points. 

While another match of the season was played between both of these teams on 14th May. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first and scored 145 runs in 20 overs. MI wasn’t able to chase the score and lost the match by a small margin of 2 runs. 

Shane Warne was the man of the match award, who took 3 wickets in the game. Ravindra Jadeja was the highest scorer of the game scoring 42 runs in the match.

In the next season of the IPL, both of the teams played two matches against each other and both matches were won by Mumbai Indians. 

In the first match, Mumbai won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 212 runs and, Rajasthan Royals scored 208 runs and lost the match by just four runs. 

In the next match of the season, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to field first. MI scored 174 runs while Rajasthan Royals scored 137 runs. Sachin Tendulkar scored 89 runs in the match and got the Man of the Match Award.

The next season, Rajasthan Royals did a great job and won both matches against Mumbai Indians. In the first match, Rajasthan opted to field first and Mumbai Indians scored only 94 runs in 20 overs. RR chased the target in 18.1 overs where Johan Botha was Man of the Match who scored 45 runs and took 3 wickets. 

In the next match of that season, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat first and scored 133 runs at 5 wickets in 20 overs. Rajasthan chased the target in just 13.1 overs without losing a single wicket. Shane Watson was the highest scorer also, he scored 89 runs and took 3 wickets.

In IPL 2012, both matches were won by Mumbai Indians. In the first match, RR won the toss and opted to field first and MI scored 197 runs in 20 overs. While RR scored 170 runs and lost the match by 27 runs. Kieron Pollard was Man of the Match who scored 64 runs and took 4 wickets. 

In the next match, RR scored 162 runs in 20 overs whereas MI chased the target easily in 18 overs without losing a single wicket. Dwayne Smith was the highest scorer scoring 87 runs.

In IPL 2013, three matches were played between MI and RR. In the first match, RR scored 179 runs whereas MI scored just 92 runs. RR won the match one-sidedly by 87 runs. 

In the second match, RR opted to field first and MI scored 166 runs in 20 overs. RR wasn’t able to chase the target and made 152 with a loss of 7 wickets. MI won that match by 14 runs. 

Both of these teams got another match in the qualifiers where MI won by 4 wickets. RR opted to bat first and scored 165 runs in 20 overs. MI chased the nail-biting encounter and won the match by chasing the target in 19.5 overs.

In IPL 2014, the teams interacted twice in the season and both matches were won by Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians won the title that year. 

In the first match, Mumbai Indians opted to bat first and scored 178 runs in 20 overs. While Rajasthan scored only 153 runs and lost the match by 25 runs. 

In the next match, RR opted to bat first and scored 189 runs in 20 overs. While MI batted in the match and scored 195 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs and winning the match by five wickets.

The first match was played in Ahmedabad where Mumbai won the toss and opted to bat first. MI scored 164 runs with 5 wickets in 20 overs. RR scored 165 runs losing seven wickets in 19.1 overs. Steve Smith was the man of the match scoring 79 runs in that match. 

In the next match, MI scored 187 runs in 20 overs in the first innings. RR scored 179 runs in that match and lose the match by just 8 runs. Sanju Samson was the highest scorer of the match scoring 76 runs.

This season, two matches were played between both of the teams and RR won these matches. 

In the first match, MI won the toss and elected to bat first, they scored 167 runs in 20 overs. Rajasthan Royals scored 168 runs in 19.4 overs and won the match by three wickets. Jofra Archer was Man of the Match who took three wickets. 

In the second match, RR won the toss and opted to field where MI scored 168 runs losing 7 wickets. RR chased the target in 18 overs and won the match by seven wickets. The player of the match was Jos Buttler who scored 94 runs.

In IPL 2019, two matches were played between both teams and again RR has given a dominating performance in both matches. 

In the first match, RR won the toss and opted to field first where MI scored 187 runs in 20 overs. RR came with a positive approach and chased the target in 19.3 overs and won the match by four wickets. Jos Buttler was Man of the Match who scored 89 runs. 

In the second match, Mumbai Indians scored 161 runs in the first innings where RR counter back and scored 162 runs in 19.1 overs. Steve Smith was Man of the Match and scored 59 runs in this match.

Again in 2020, two matches were played between both teams. During the first match, MI scored 193 in the first innings in 20 overs whereas RR got all out on just 136 runs and lost the match by 57 runs. 

In the second match, MI batted first and scored 195 runs in the first innings. RR chased the target with 10 balls to spare and won the match by 8 wickets. Ben Stokes was Man of the Match scoring 107 runs in 60 balls.

In the next season, two matches were played between both teams and MI won both of the matches. 

In the first match, RR batted first and scored 171 runs in 20 overs and MI chased the target in 18.3 overs and won the match by 7 wickets. 

Again in the second match, MI completely dominated RR. RR batter first and scored only 90 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. MI chased the target in just 8.2 overs and won the match with 8 wickets in hand.

In IPL 2022, two matches were played between both teams. 

In the first match, Rajasthan batted first and scored 193 runs in 20 overs. MI failed to chase the target and score 170 runs losing 8 wickets and losing the match by 23 runs. 

In the second match, Rajasthan Royals opted for bat and scored 158 runs in the first Innings. While batting at the second number, MI successfully chased the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 5 wickets.
