Rohit’s medical report says he could be in danger of injuring himself again, says Ravi Shastri

Over the past few years Rohit Sharma has shown what an opening batsman should be like. He has been the second highest run getter in the limited over format in the last five years after Virat Kohli. The only person to get two double centuries in ODIs, he is surely a gem for team India who has consistently performed for the team and took them to victories.

His innings of 264 vs Sri Lanka single handedly destroyed the opposition and Sri Lanka in the second innings couldn’t score even as much as Rohit Sharma. He was even important for the team in the last year’s World Cup in England when he scored 5 centuries in the tournament and it was his contribution that India remained unbeaten in the group stage of the tournament.

A successful leader:

He’s not only a terrific batsman but also an immensely talented leader and has led Mumbai Indians to four IPL titles so far, the most by any captain. He has also led team India in Kohli’s absence and displayed that he’s no less than any great captain.

Injury in hamstring:

He is reported to have suffered a hamstring injury in the ongoing IPL and hence his name was omitted from the Indian squad for Australia. Now India’s head coach Ravi Shastri said that Rohit’s medical report suggests that if he participates in any form of cricket soon, he may injure himself again, hence it is advisable for him to rest for this tour.
