Rishabh Pant has been one of the most consistent players for the Delhi Capitals over the past few years hitting big shots and registering a lot of runs to his name.
The wicketkeeper-batsman is seen as a potent replacement for the legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni who announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in August.
This year too he has been a big asset in Delhi Capitals successful campaign winning 5 out of 7 matches.
Capitals lose against MI:
In the match against Rajasthan Royals where Delhi Capitals won handsomely, Rishabh Pant picked up an injury in his leg and was struggling in keeping behind the wickets.
As a result, he missed the next match against Mumbai Indians which Delhi lost by 5 wickets and 2 balls to go. Due to Pant’s injury, Delhi had to include Alex Carey as the wicketkeeper and had to drop Shimron Hetmyer as only 4 overseas players can be included in the squad.
15-20 more runs could have changed the complexion of the match said Shreyas Iyyer as he hoped that Rishabh Pant would be back by next week.
What the doctor said:
After the match, Iyyer said that doctor told that Pant needed a week’s rest, and only after that he can make a comeback on to the field. Capitals will surely hope that Pant recovers as soon as possible and their good going campaign does not suffer much.
