BOMBAY VS BARODA
The openers scored 66 and 170 and the one down batsman made 83. Bombay decided to declare the innings at 371 with the loss of four wickets. They invited Baroda to bat.
Baroda was no less and gave a tight response by scoring 330 runs. Then they declared their winnings. They lost 8 wickets throughout the innings. One of the batsman Suresh Keshwala made 100 runs without giving his wicket.
Once again, it was time for Bombay to come and bat to make the score reach a good mark. However, Baroda’s fast bowler, Vinit Wadkar provided his team with the wicket of two batsman Shishir Hattangadi and Sandeep Patil in the very beginning.
Then came in Rajput and skipper Sunil Gavaskar, where Rajput played an incredible knock of 136 runs whereas Gavaskar scored 49 runs. Together both of them raised the team runs by 128 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. Following another wicket, Ravi Shastri came in to bat for Bombay.
RAVI SHASTRI CAME into BAT
Ravi Shastri is not the person who bats very aggressively but a player who relies on defensive shots very often. In a game against England, he had scored 111 runs in 357 balls. This knock of his lasted for 455 minutes.
However, the Ravi Shastri whom we saw in this match was contradictory to the original. He played aggressive cricket that day. In this match, he attained his 50 runs in just 42 balls which took him 38 minutes.
This knock of Shastri consisted of 3 big hits along with 4 boundaries. Furthermore, he completed his century in just 80 balls. It took 71 minutes for him to achieve the same. By then he had struck 4 sixes and 9 boundaries.
The next bowler was off-spinner of Baroda, Tilak Raj, he had to face a storm by Ravi Shastri. In his over, Ravi Shastri struck 6 sixes. This helped him to advance in his score to 183 which was 147 before hitting those massive sixes. It was a nightmare for Tilak Raj.
By tracking those enormous 6 sixes he became the first Indian batsman to have struck 6 sixes in an over. He had played astonishingly in that game.
