In this IPL 2021 season, the Double R’s have been hit by some big blows, and due to that, their main players have been ruled out of this cash-rich league tournament.
Jofra was the first one to go. Archer couldn’t play the ongoing season due to his finger injury. Ben Stokes played few matches, but later, he aggravated a shoulder injury, which has ruled him out of this whole season.
Then there are players like Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye who have left the Rajasthan Royals franchise because of the bio bubble issue. They are scared because the COVID 19 cases are rising in India.
In this situation, Rajasthan has only four overseas players with them. David Miller, Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, and Mustafizur Rahman in their squad.
The BCCI has opened the trade window, and the franchise can release and take a few overseas and Indian players according to make the right balance of the team. The trade window has been opened on Monday 26th April 2021, and it will be Sunday 23rd May 2021.
Today in this article, we will tell our fans about five players which Rajasthan Royals can target from the other franchise –
Mitchell Santner – The spin bowler from New Zealand is a perfect player to have on the side for any format of the game. He has been a perfect replace a player like former Kiwi captain Daniel Vettori. But in the CSK, it has been not easy to make it to the playing XI. The well-settled CSK team has spinners like Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Imran Tahir for this season.
So Santner, a tailor-made bowler in the shortest format, can be brought by Rajasthan Royals. RR has inexperienced spinners, so if they include Santner, that would be wonderful for them. Santner has an economy of just seven in this excellent format, and he can bat down the middle order as well, which could solve the lower order issues for RR.
Chris Jordan – The pace bowler who can bat down the order. Jordan showed his batting skills which led the Punjab Kings team to a decent score in the end. Chris Jordan can be used as a back option. But if RR needs another pace-bowling all-rounder than Chris Morris, then they can think over Jordan as he can bring some variety to the bowling unit of RR.
Chris Jordan had a good IPL 2021 season for PBKS. But KL Ragul needs to use him smartly. Jordan is also a terrific fielder who can easily save at least ten runs in the field. Along with Morris, Jordan would be a good buy for RR.
Dawid Malan – The number one T20I batsman in the world is currently warming the bench of PKBS. Dawid Malan is yet to get his opportunity in this IPL 2021 season. Despite being so talented, Malan is still hasn’t got any opportunities to prove his worth. Malan can give RR stability in the middle order, or he can be the opener for RR.
Malan has an average of 50 in the shortest format, and his strike rate is 144.32. PBKS are going to stick with Nicholas Pooran even if he doesn’t perform for them. So RR can buy Malan and play him as an opener with two South Africans in the lower order.
Sam Billings – Another player from England who can play in the middle order can play as the opening batsmen. Sam Billings hasn’t played yet for Delhi Capitals. But he was with the CSK franchise when they won their third title. Billings can be a great addition to the RR squad.
But he needs to perform with consistency, as this has been the issue with most of the younger players. Billings has played 22 IPL games so far, and RR can positively use that little experience this IPL 2021 season.
Jason Roy – RR needs stability at the opening position to go with the best opening duo of T20 innings. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy are the openers for England in T20Is. RR can bring them in to replicate that scenario, giving them the firepower in the rest of their innings.
Roy has been a terrific opener for England in the limited-overs format. Jason can set them on fire with excellent starts. He is currently with the SRH squad. But he won’t get opportunities, so it would be good if RR can buy him and compliments his England mate Jos Buttler.
