At the Commonwealth Games, weightlifter Achinta Sheuli (73 kg) won India’s third gold medal, living up to his high status.

Sheuli, the event favorite, lifted 313 kg (143 kg + 170 kg) to win the gold at the NEC Hall in this city on Sunday.

Thus he received praise from everyone including PM Narendra Modi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Punjab Kings.

In his honor Punjab Kings tweeted:

โ€œAnother G๐Ÿฅ‡LD for India! ๐Ÿคฉ

If you need some #MondayMotivation, look no further. Achinta Sheuli with a record 313 kg lift at the #CWG2022 ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œโ€

In 2012, Achinta Sheuli began exercising weights after being motivated by his older brother Alok.

After his father passed away in 2014, Achinta’s older brother, Alok, stopped playing the sport and began working as a laborer to support the family.

In April 2014, Achinta Sheuli lost his laborer father Pratik. Alok, the eldest brother, recalled that Achinta wept because they lacked the funds to pay for their father’s funeral.

Achinta Sheuli is from Kolkata and was raised in Deulpur, which is two hours away from Howrah by bus.
