India and Pakistan will take on each other in Group 2 of World T20 2021 to be played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on 24th October. It promises to be a mouth-watering contest between the top two Asian teams in the world.
The Indian Team has a strong batting unit with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Hardik Pandya and other top-quality batsmen who can change the course of the game with their power-hitting.
On the other hand, Pakistan has struggled in recent times being whitewashed by a weakened England side 0-3 and defeated by England 1-2 during the T20I series.
Indian Cricket Team has been on song in ICC tournaments. The last time they met in World T20 was during the 2016 World Cup match at Kolkata where India won the match thanks to a brilliant knock by Kohli.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam is looking forward to the opening match of World T20 to be played on 24th October. India has a win a record of 5-0 in World T20Is while they won 7 matches out of 7 matches in fifty over World Cup.
Speaking ahead of the encounter between the two bitter rivals, Azam said that his side would like to start Pakistan’s campaign by ending its losing streak against the Men in Blue in World Cup.
“India will be under more pressure, as compared to Pakistan, during the T20 World Cup match as they have not played T20 cricket as a group for quite a while. India is currently playing Test cricket and after that, they will get busy with franchise cricket.
The UAE is like our home ground, and we will try to give our 100 percent on the field,” Azam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
India won the first edition of World T20 in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. They reached the semi-finals of World T20 2016 losing to eventual champions West Indies.
Both teams would be looking to showcase their skills and hope for a winning start to the tournament.
Both teams clubbed with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage.
