The inaugural World Test Championship will be played after four days at Southampton, and India and New Zealand will be facing this ICC test marquee event final.
The pitch of the Ageas Bowl has now been being spoken about, and according to the reports, the pitch will be served for both teams. England Cricket and board’s pitch Curator Simon Lee has been responsible for curating the pitch for WTC Final.
Simon has bagged the award of groundskeepers of the year by ECB, and he hopes to prepare a good pitch for an even contest. The pitch preparation is simple, and they did it according to the guidelines set by the International Cricket Council because India and New Zealand will play the final match as Ageas Bowl will be a neutral venue.
Lee wants to prepare a deck that will have pace, bounce, carry, and support the spinners. The conditions which are in England, the curator will want to over roll the pitch.
He wants something from the pitch, which is hard to do in England because the pitch doesn’t support it. But the weather is good for the WTC final clash, and there will be a lot of suns.
The sun might make the pitch dry, and the spin would be a decisive factor. The sand can be mixed to hold the pitch together when the pitch is re-laid after ten years. But the spinners can be helped if they could take something out of it.
