Mumbai Indian’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has shown a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) moment. This great gesture has made him the first player in the currently running Indian Premier League (IPL) to do this.

Let’s find out what Hardik has to say

Last Sunday, in a match against Rajasthan Royal, Hardik came up with a great gesture. During Mumbai’s inning after completing his half-century, the star sat down on his knees and raised his right hand to show his support for the ongoing Black Lives Matter (BLM) moment on racism.

Pandya made 60 runs from just 21 balls and in the 19th over as soon as he completed his fifty, he presented the gesture.

Mumbai Indian’s skipper and West Indian star Keiron Pollard responded to a gesture from Pandya by raising his right fist.

Hardik Pandya tweeted his photo with the same pos he gave during the match. He has written Black lives matter in the caption. Here you can check out his tweet,

This gesture has come after West Indian Skipper’s Jason Holder statement last week that he has noticed no one taking a knee in solidarity with BLM moment. He is currently in a contract with the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise.

He made this statement last week where he expressed his disappointment over other IPL teams.

He said that it is important to re-highlight what is going in the world as he was pointing to the death of African-American George Floyd who faced racism during the protest and killed by an on-duty white police officer in Minneapolis.

Significantly, West Indian players have shown the same gesture in England this summer during the test series.

But after that, no gestures were shown in team tours to Pakistan and Australia. And now, Indian star Hardik Pandya has shown the same gesture. Holder will be pretty happy with that like his teammate Pollard who gets admired by Pandya’s gesture.

Some have tagged his gesture with a publicity stunt as his performance is not of that level this year; he has made a single fifty in the six matches he has played. Some have given their points that India is not related to the moment.

The BLM moment is a world-wide moment and a great initiative against racism so we should support such kinds of gestures. What do you think guys? Share your views with us.
