The Chief Selector of Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim announced the squad for the 3 matches ODI series against New Zealand to be played at Rawalpindi.
This team will be led by Babar Azam would be looking to shrug off the disappointment of 0-3 whitewash against a weakened England side. There are four uncapped players included in the squad including Shahnawaz Dhani who was unfortunate to sit out during the matches in England.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Harris, pacer Mohammad Wasim Junior and leg spinner Zahid Mahmood have been included for the 3-match series.
The experienced Sarfraz Ahmed, Haris Sohail, Salman Ali Agha, and Sohaib Masqood included in the ODI squad to face England has been dropped. Pakistan batting looks brittle with lack of middle order.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah who were part of the Zimbabwe ODI series has been recalled to the squad.
Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Saud Shakeel , Imam UL Haq, Shafique, Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed comprise of the batting order. Rizwan is the first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman while Mohammad Haris will be included as backup wicketkeeper.
The fast-bowling department comprises of Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Dahani, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Mohammad Hasnain while the spinners include Shahbad Khan, Usman Qadir and Zahid Mahmood.
Pakistan will face a second-string New Zealand side with 3 ODIs matches on 17th, 19th and 21st September in Rawalpindi. These three matches are part of the ICC ODI Super League.
