NZ vs ENG: Yesterday’s Match Result

In the second test match contested at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, England defeated New Zealand by five wickets bossing with 2-0 in the three-match series.

After a shaky start, the skipper Ben Stroke scored an unbeaten 75 while Jonny Bairstow scored a brilliant 136 to chase a target of 299.

Before Strokes and Bairstow took the charge England was swaying at 93 for four. This pair added 179 runs for the fifth wicket so that England can chase down the target easily.

In the first innings after England opted to bowl NZ posted a mammoth total of 553.

Daryl Mitchell had hit a brilliant 190, scoring his third test ton. While Tom Blundell wicketkeeper batter scored 104. Retaliating Joe Root and Ollie Pope played marathon hits of 176 and 145 taking England’s total to 539 beatings NZ with 14.

If England continues to play similarly under Stokes and McCullum, then it’s going to be a big journey.

Jonny Bairstow emerged as the player of the match for his outstanding play.
