The five International Cricket Council Teams of the Decade has been released on ICC official Twitter handle. Where Indian captain Virat Kohli’s reputation and amazing form in all formats gave him the captain’s title for the Test team.
The five-team released by ICC as the decade best team. Nine Aussies were named in the five team list.
ICC has announced an outstanding edition of its annual awards ceremony. And this is something different from recognising the amazing international performers of the last 10 years.
However, this is said to do because of the COVID-19 pandemic with a very limited number of matches played in 2020.
The teams were made after analysing players’ performance within the time interval of January 1, 2011, to October 7, 2020. It’s among the rules that to be selected in the best team of the decade a player has to have to play for at least 5 years.
Virat Kohli the magnificent batsman who has impressed nearly everyone with his amazing batting was named in all formats ICC men’s Test, ODI and T20I teams of the decade.
Moreover, Virat Kohli is the only player named in all three formats- teams of the decade. Also, he was skipper of the Test XI. Proud moment for India as the wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni named caption of both T20 and ODI teams.
David Warner Australia’s opener is the only male Australian player to feature in two teams of the decade that are Test and ODI.
Mitchell Starc (ODI), Steve Smith (Test), Glenn Maxwell (T20I), and Aaron Finch (T20I) were the other four players named among the teams of the decade.
Other players named in both ODI and T20I teams of the decade are AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma, and Lasith Malinga. And it’s Been Stokes the England all-rounder featured in both Test and ODI format.
Stokes along with other three England players represents the Test side. They are Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, and Jimmy Anderson.
Ravichandran Ashwin India’s spinner was named Test team’s No. 1 spinner. Well, this looks something on economy rate, average, and strike rate as because Nathan Lyon Australia’s spinner took down more wicket then Ashwin across the decade. Moreover, Ashwin across the decade took many 5 and 10 wickets hauls.
ICC teams of the decade are not for judging players is only to give a clear idea of some great players with consistent hand, what do you think? Let us know in the comments section.
