Most Centuries In Test Cricket By Indians In 2021

The Indian Cricket Team had a superb 2021 in Test Cricket so far. They showed great courage and fighting spirit to register a famous series win over Australia in Australia under the captaincy of Ajiyanka Rahane and so many first-choice players injured.

After that brilliant Test series win in Australia, India produced turning pitches and registered 3-1 win over England. Thanks to a great all-around performance, the Indian team stunned the hosts by winning two Test matches at Lords and Oval before the fifth match was canceled due to a COVID outbreak in the Indian camp.

There have been sensational performances by the Indian team with bat helping them to register wins on overseas soil.

Here we look at the Most centuries by Indians in Test cricket in 2021

Rohit Sharma

Since being elevated into the opening slot, Rohit Sharma has shown tremendous hunger and has been the best batsman in Test cricket so far in 2021.

After missing the first two Test matches in Australia due to hard quarantine, Rohit Sharma provided decent starts but was not able to convert into big scores. He returned to Indian shores and scored a brilliant 161 runs in the first innings of the 2nd Test match against England at Chennai to help India post 329 runs. For his brilliant knock, he was awarded the man of the match.

His performance in the recently concluded Test series on English was credible. He along with KL Rahul played thwarted new ball and provided brilliant starts. Rohit scored a total of 368 runs from 8 innings with first-ever Test century on foreign soil. He made 127 runs in the 2nd innings of the 4th Test match played at Kennington Oval, London.

For his brilliant 127 runs in the 2nd innings, Rohit Sharma was awarded the man of the match. He has hit so far 2 centuries and would be looking for more when India tour South Africa for 3 Test matches in December this year.

Rishabh Pant  

The explosive wicketkeeper Indian batsman Rishabh Pant has shown tremendous hunger in Test matches for the year 2021. He returned to the Indian squad after being dropped at the Pink Ball Adelaide Oval.

His performances after that were simply outstanding with a quickfire knock in the first innings of the 2nd Test match at Melbourne. Chasing a massive target of 407 runs in 2nd innings of 3rd Test at Sydney, Pant did not allow the Australian bowlers to settle and scored a superb 97 runs.

Chasing 328 runs in the second innings of the fourth Test at Gabba, Pant made an unbeaten 89 runs and remained not out to help India register a memorable series win after winning on Australia’s fortress.

Pant showed brilliant skills in the home series against England. He made a breath-taking 101 runs in quick time during the first innings of the fourth Test at Ahmedabad. His knock helped India recover and post a competitive total.

The explosive left-handed batsman has scored 1 century so far and is currently 3rd run-getter in Test matches.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul was given a chance to open the innings for India in recently concluded Test series against England. He provided decent starts in almost every innings along with Rohit Sharma.

He made an impact to create enough pressure on the English top-quality bowling line-up. During the first innings at the iconic Lords Cricket Stadium, KL Rahul did a superb job and scored 129 runs helping the Indian team to end the day in a strong position at 276 for 3.

Rahul scored 315 runs from 8 innings with best score of 129 runs. He was dropped from the Test series against Australia and England.

This performance will do wonders for him in Test matches and hoping to see while opening during 3 matches series to be played in South Africa at the end of this year. He played a total of 4 Tests this year with 1 century.

Ajiyanka Rahane

The vice-captain of Indian Test team Ajiyanka Rahane has been in not-so-good form so far. After being thrashed during the first match at Adelaide Oval, Rahane was named the captain of team for the rest of the series.

Ajiyanka Rahane led from the front in the first innings of 2nd Test match at Melbourne. He scored a brilliant 112 runs laying a strong foundation to help the Indian team take a decent lead of 131 runs. Chasing a modest target of 70 runs, Rahane hit the winning run and helped the Indian team level the series at 1-1.

For his match-winning knocks, Rahane was awarded the man of the match award. Since then, he has been not performing consistently with lack of performance putting Indian middle order under pressure. So far, the stylish Mumbai player hit 1 century during 2021 in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin

The ace-off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin created a major impact with both bat and ball in Test cricket so far in 2021. He fought it out during the 2nd innings of 3rd Test match at Sydney stitching on 62 runs for the 6th wicket against top quality Australian bowling along with Vihari helping Team India register a remarkable draw.

With full crowds allowed, Ashwin rose to the occasion and registered a brilliant century in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match at Chennai. With 9 wickets down, Siraj helped Ashwin register his 5th century in Test matches.

He played a superb knock scoring 101 runs to help India set a massive target in the 2nd innings for England. Ashwin has hit only 1 century so far playing 6 matches (10 innings) with the best score of 101.
