The auctions for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 have been completed and the players have been finalized to play with their respective teams. However, S Shreesanth, who was hoping to playback in IPL 2021 did not get selected for any team. Sreesanth used to play in IPL, but after the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, he never got to play again. After the scandal, he got a lifetime ban from BCCU for playing cricket. Though later the ban was cut to seven years which have been passed and he came back to cricket. He was in the trade for the Kerala team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The player registered his name for IPL auctions at the price of 75 lakhs. unfortunately, the player remains unsold in the auction. Though even after not getting purchase by any team, he is still hoping that he will get to play in the IPL. Many a time, it happens that teams have to get more players in the teams due to injuries or other issues and Sreesanth is believed that he will get to play in between. He also told Preity Zinta who is co-owner of the IPL team Kings XI Punjab take him in the team.
The story starts with Preity Zinta landed in Chennai for the auction. As the actress landed there, she uploaded a photo of her on Instagram with a caption reading she had landed in Chennai for the auctions. She also asked people to suggest which players would they like to see in team Punjab in the IPL. Soon after his post, Shreesanth commented that he wanted to be a part of team Punjab and he won’t charge anything as he was not a part of the auction. He also that maybe she could still be picked by him.
Shreesanth used to play with team India and he was there in IPL too with the starting year of 2008. He played with team Kings XI Punjab for three years before he signed Rajasthan Royals in 2011. In the first-ever IPL which was in 2008, Shreesanth was the second wicket-taker of the tournament with 18 wickets.
