Match 10-Highlights – AB D and Maxwell power RCB to their third back to back win of this season

RCB is the first team to win the first three games on a trot in IPL 2021 season.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore continue their dominance in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The side has largely struggled as a unit to put a good performance on the field even though RCB is a very strong side on the paper. Before this season, Virat and his men were known as the strugglers of the IPL.

But everything has changed for the men in red in the IPL 2021 season, Virat and his men have been good, and their performances on the field have better until now. RCB hopes to perform well in the upcoming matches as well. Virat and co have topped the points with three out of three wins this year.

In the tenth match of the IPL 2021 season, RCB continued their good work with the bat first. They won the toss and batted first in this encounter. RCB had a bad start to their innings as their Skipper, Virat Kohli, was the first to depart for just five runs, and Rajat Patidar was also dismissed for a single run in the first over.

Then Glenn Maxwell and Devdutt Paddikal tried to consolidate the situation through a partnership. Maxwell has been in good form of late. But his consistency has been an issue. In contrast, Devdutt Paddikal struggled to find his touch, shown in the IPL 2020 season. The emerging player of the IPL 2020, Paddikal, didn’t time the ball to his liking. But still, he hung around with Maxwell.

The partnership of 86 was finally broken when Devdutt was dismissed for 25 runs which he scored from 28 deliveries. RCB still had Maxwell and with ABD, reaching the 200 run mark was always on the cards. Maxwell scored his second fifty of the IPL 2021 season, and ABD, too, showed his style, class and elegance.

Maxwell shared another stand, this time. It was with AB De Villiers. The 53 run partnership between these two was full of entertainment as both the batsmen showed a full range of strokes. But KKR took the vital wicket of dangerous Maxwell. The Aussie was picked by another Aussie, Pat Cummins. Maxi departed after other good innings of 70 runs.

The match went in RCB’s way as ABD took a toll on the KKR bowlers, and De Villiers brought his first half-century of the IPL 2021 season. Kyle Jamieson, too smashed few deliveries out of the park, which brought the fifty run stand between ABD and Jamieson. RCB scored 204 runs after the end of their 20 overs.

AB De Villiers was unbeaten on 76 runs, and the Kiwi pace bowler Kyle Jamieson scored 11 runs from just four deliveries. KKR bowlers had to toil hard in Chennai’s heat. They were all over the place, and none of them had an economic spell. Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets while Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna bagged one wicket each to their name.

KKR have similar problems while chasing targets like SRH. Morgan and co failed to chase a target down second in two matches. Although Shubman Gill gave KKR the desired start as he took on Kyle Jamieson for 23 runs in one. But the Kiwi pacer came back strongly and dismissed Gill for 21 runs.

Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana, too, got going. But none of the KKR batsmen couldn’t convert their into a big score, and they didn’t stay till the end as Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana were dismissed in successive overs. Rana scored 18 runs, and Tripathi scored 25 runs to his name.

Dinesh Karthik continued his poor form with the bat, and Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him for just two runs. Chahal took his first wicket in the IPL 2021 season in the form of DK. Then it was a flurry of runs and wickets, which kept the fans engaging. But it didn’t help KKR in this run chase.

One only thing that was good from the KKR point of view was that it brought some rhythm back for Morgan, Russell, and Shakib. These three players had struggled for form, and they hit some lusty blows, which could help them in their next games. Morgan scored 29 runs, Skiab made 26 runs, and Rissel scored 31 runs in this match.

RCB has found the new death overs specialist in Harshal Patel. He bowled another brilliant last over and picked up the last wicket of Andre Russell. KKR batted their 20 overs/ But they manage only 166 runs on the board in reply to RCB’s 204 runs. Virat and co-won their third man on the trot by 38 runs.

Kyle Jamieson took three wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel took two wickets each. With Washington, Sundar picked up one wicket to his name.
