In the midst of the thrill of IPL 2022, the genie of spot-fixing has come to the force once again. The CBI has registered an FIR on two IPL cases in 2019, after which the suspicion of possible spot-fixing on the IPL 2019 matches in Delhi has started again. The video posted by Lalit Modi, former commissioner of IPL Governing Council, has made one think about spot-fixing.
IPL has been indulged in controversies of fixing many times in the past 14 years, one incident even resulted in ban of CSK from the tournament for two years.
The matter of spot-fixing came to the force
Lalit Modi, yes IPL is the discovery of his mind. While sharing a video of the match played between KKR and DC in IPL 2019, Lalit Modi has been accused of spot-fixing. Actually, in this video, DC’s captain Rishabh Pant was heard saying that this is the same four. Sandeep Lamichhane was bowling in that match and Robin Uthappa also hit a four.
Lalit Modi Makes Harsh Accusations
It was only after Lalit Modi’s video was shared that there was panic all around. Posting this video, Lalit Modi wrote-
“Is this a joke? Can’t believe this. Match fixing is in full swing. Will IPL, BCCI and ICC ever know? Shameful or the match official doesn’t care about it.”
The final match of IPL 2019 was between Mumbai Indians and CSK, in which Mumbai Indians defeated CSK by 1 run to win the IPL title for the fifth time.
