This Asia Cup was a pure roller coaster ride for the Indian team and Indian cricket fans. After beating Pakistan and Hong Kong in the first two matches of the tournament, India lost two consecutive matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan lost against Pakistan, which closed the door for India to reach the final of the tournament.
India still had a match against Afghanistan. They totally showed what India’s team is capable of and trashed Afghanistan in their last match of the tournament. They lost the tournament, but at the end of the tournament, they won the hearts of Indian fans.
The Indian team came down without our captain, Rohin Sharma. KL Rahul was our captain for the last match, which was a big blow for the Indian side, but it worked in favor of the Indian side. Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bowl first, which later proved to be a bad decision.
In yesterday’s match, the opening partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul was very crucial for the defending team. The first wicket was down at the score of 119 runs in the form of KL Rahul at the score of 62 runs off 41 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes, with a strike rate of 151.22. After that, the innings were under Virat Kohli’s control.
On one hand, Suryakumar Yadav was bowled out by Fareed Ahmad, but on the other hand, Virat was still on the ground, smashing boundaries in all corners of the ground. Later, he was supported by Rishabh Pant till the end of the inning. After a long wait, Kohli completed his century. The fans and the whole dressing room were happy to see it.
Finally, we can all say proudly, “The King is Back!!”.
Fans around the world have been waiting for Virat to return to form, and the Asia Cup has delivered. Virat ended the inning on 122 runs off 62 balls, including 12 fours and 6 sixes, with a strike rate of 200. The Indian team put a big target of 213 runs on the board in 20 overs.
The Afghan side was already under pressure because of the big total that Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s spell was like a wet dough in poverty for the Afghanistan team. Bhuvi showed the class of the Indian pace attack in yesterday’s match by taking 5 wickets with only 4 runs given. This was Bhuvi’s best spell against any team.
The only Afghanistan player who stayed on the ground was Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 64 runs off 59 balls. Afghanistan’s batting line was thrashed by the Indian bowling lineup, which ended in 111 with 8 wickets in loss, where Ibrahim Zadran was not out till the end.
This match was the last match in the Asia Cup for the Indian team. They lost the tournament but are coming back with an in-form Virat Kohli, which is a good sign for the upcoming World Cup. Virat has shown that he is ready for the World Cup and will make sure to bring the World Cup back to India.
