It’s Unrealistic for Me to Play Red Ball Cricket Again Says, Aaron Finch.

Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper for the limited over format recently acknowledged that it would be unrealistic for him to think about performing in test cricket once again.

What Did Finch Say Be the Reason?

The skipper is in England for their series, including three ODIs and three T20s. He said that considering this he may not have played enough First-Class matches to be claiming a spot in the squad for the red-ball format.

Finch said that claiming a spot in the team just based on the number of opportunities for playing the four-day cricket and forcing a claim would be really limited. He believes that the young Aussie batsmen are emerging and some of them are genuinely good players, especially top-order batsmen.

He feels that there is tremendous deep talent in the players currently and he doesn’t feel it’s the right opportunity. So, he said that it wouldn’t be realistic for him to play in the test format again.

Looking Back

Throughout his career, Finch seems to have played only five red ball matches which were during David Warner’s suspension, on the other hand, he has played 61 T20s and 126-day games. Finch has always been successful when he has visited England portraying his talent and ⅕ of his runs account playing there.

After just twenty-eight runs in ODI, he will have completed his 1000 runs against England. He is the fourth player to have so many runs after Adam Gilchrist, Michael Clark, and Ricky Ponting.

What Is He Now Looking Forward To?

Finch is really looking forward to playing in England as he loves batting there. He played in England from the start of his career and about six T20 county seasons. The large square grounds of England give him shots satisfaction as a batsman. He said he doesn’t know what it is in England, but he loves it.

The skipper said that the 2023 ODI World Cup in India will be his last undertaking. Talking about the test format as he will be turning 34 this year, Aaron said that before disengaging he is longing to play in the test format for one last time and is pretty sure to give his best in the last.

Stay tuned for more updates from the world of cricket!

  1. Amazing blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers? I’m planning to
start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

Would you advise starting with a free platform like
Wordpress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there
that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Thanks!
