IRE vs NZ, 3rd T20I, Yesterday Match Result, Highlights: New Zealand Whitewashes Irish Thanks To Glenn Phillips’ Unbeaten Fifty

New Zealand whitewashed the Irish in the three-match T20I series by winning the third match contested at Stormont ground in Belfast on Friday by six wickets.

Friday’s six-wicket victory at the Stormont ground in Belfast gave New Zealand a 3-0 Twenty20 series victory against Ireland.

Before James Neesham hit 23 off just six pitches, Daryl Mitchell contributed with a valuable 32-ball 48.

Phillips was still in the game as New Zealand finished off the 175-point goal with one over remaining.

The Blackcaps were in trouble at 147/4 with less than three overs left when Mitchell was caught and bowled by Josh Little.

But Phillips, who also scored the game-winning fifty in the first game of the series, again caused Ireland problems before the powerful Neesham ensured victory.

Veteran opener Paul Stirling led Ireland to a score of 174/6, which was also helped by Mark Adair’s smashing 37 off 15 balls and Curtis Campher’s 19 off 8 runs.

Ireland, who had endured agonizing white-ball defeats by both India and New Zealand this season, had lost hope until Adair and Campher’s unbroken stand of 58 from 23 deliveries.
