In a major boost for Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer has joined the camp for the 2nd leg of IPL 2021 after recovering from a shoulder injury that he received during the first One-day international against England played at Pune this year.
Delhi Capitals showed great skills so far in Indian Premier League season 13 topping the table with 6 wins and 2 losses. He underwent shoulder surgery and was ruled out of this season.
Iyer missed the first leg of IPL played in India and then missed Royal ODI Cup for Lancashire.
It is a major boost for Delhi Capitals as they would be looking to continue their dominating performance in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021. On this occasion ESPNcricinfo quoted Iyer as saying, “To be honest, I feel on top of the world.
That was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. Being in the team never feels bad. I The practice session for the team came six days before the start, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the momentum.
Iyer said, “We have discussed how we should proceed in the practice session before the match starts. We have decided that we should go slowly. We don’t need to give it our all because it’s here.
The climate is different. We need to adapt to the weather conditions and adjust as quickly as possible, and that should be our mindset.”
Under the captaincy of Iyer, Delhi Capitals reached the finals of IPL last season for the first time. They played brilliant cricket finishing 2nd in the points table before losing to Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier.
Delhi Capitals then produced a great performance to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2nd qualifier to reach their maiden IPL finals.
During the first leg of IPL 2021, DC played brilliant cricket losing to Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in close encounters.
The 2nd leg of IPL 2021 will begin on 19th September and finish on 15th October. Pant would continue to do the captaincy job with a top-quality Delhi Capitals side that will be eager to win their maiden IPL title.
