The Test series between India and Australia is assured for a thrilling finish, after facing a mortifying defeat in the first match by Australia where India bowled out for only 36 runs in the second innings and lost the match by eight wickets and making a splendid comeback in the next game to level the series despite losing captain Virat Kohli, team led by Ajinkya Rahane won the game by eight wickets and made a magnificent comeback in the second game.
The third test match is going to be played at the SCG from 7th January.
Australia’s head coach Justin Langer has admitted that the current test match series is turning out into an ‘arm-wrestle’.
During the virtual press conference, he showed his confidence and readiness for the next match on Thursday. At the same time he acknowledged the fact that the upcoming matches would not be less than the previous matches which was basically due to the long gap between the instalments.
Langer saw his team winning the pink ball test in Adelaide, where India lost the match by eight wickets under three days, however in the second Test match India made a roaring comeback in the Boxing day Test to level the series.
Justin Langer compared the current series to Ashes
Langer said that the ongoing series is like the iconic Ashes skirmish in 2005. He is not the first one to compare the Australia’s rivalry with India on the same pedestal as the rivalry with England. Recently Australia’s spinner Nathan Lyon also admitted that the clashes between both the teams are getting closer to the same level as that of the Ashes series.
Justin addresses Australia’s batting concerns and heaps praise on Indian bowlers
Langer thinks that the main concern is Australia’s batting and the Aussies have struggled to score runs plus their best batsmen Steve Smith is seen out of form in the last two matches scoring just ten runs in two Tests. None of their Batsmen registered a fifty in the Boxing Day Test and they failed to reach 200 runs mark. Langer revealed that the team is working on their batting concerns. He further added that there is plenty of batting talent in Australia and it’s all about opportunity and great players like David coming back on after an injury are always welcome.
While Langer admits Australia’s batting concerns he also took time to praise India’s bowlers, He praised spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for his bowling and called Jaspreet Bumrah world-class bowler. What do you think who will win the third Test match starting from 7th January comment your thoughts below and stay connected for more updates.
