On this day: India Beat England In the 1983 World Cup Semi-finals

On this day, India gave a major setback to England by defeating them in the World Cup semi-finals by six wickets.

England won the toss and opted to bat first. Their openers Graeme Fowler and Chris Tavare started well, sharing 69 run partnership for the first wicket.

Graeme Fowler made 33, while Chris Tavare scored 32 individually.

However, their partnership broke after Roger Binny sent them back.

English batting order faced further shock after Mohinder Amarnath dismissed David Gower and Mike Gatting.

To bring England’s innings to an end, Kapil dismissed the remaining three wickets of the lower order.
