IND vs WI, 2nd ODI, Yesterday Match Result, Highlights: India Beats West Indies By 2 wickets To Seal The Series Thanks To Axar Patel’s Heroics

To win the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Team India on Sunday snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the second game.

With two wickets and two balls remaining, the Men in Blue prevailed. Team India’s unbeaten 64-run performance by Axar Patel gave them the victory and helped them cross the finish line.

When other batters failed to end the game, Axar continued to bat unbeaten at 64 to complete the task for India.

Patel defeated West Indies in the slog overs by smashing his first ODI half-century in just 27 balls.

The hosts had the upper hand for the majority of the game, but Patel, who came out to bat at number 7, completely destroyed them with his brutal knock.

India needed eight runs off the last over, and the southpaw hit a six on the fourth ball to give India two more balls to win.

Patel proved his batting prowess under duress with a 35-ball innings that included five sixes and three fours.

In addition to Patel, Shreyas Iyer (age 63) and Sanju Samson (age 54) both made significant contributions for India, but they were eliminated at critical moments that allowed West Indies to retake the lead.

The 28-year-old, though, just stole the show and enabled India to win another ODI series in the West Indies.

India got off to a fast start in the chase thanks to a 48-run partnership between Shubman Gill and captain Shikhar Dhawan.

The play was temporarily halted by rain, which caused Dhawan to be removed on 13 following the interval, breaking the momentum.

Gill appeared fluid throughout his time in the middle once more. He tragically was forced to exit after scoring 43 runs.

In an attempt to beat Kyle Mayers, he attempted to play the ramp shot, but the ball struck the bat’s toe and returned to the bowlers, who took a simple catch. At 43, the 22-year-old was let go.

Suryakumar Yadav was also removed on nine after failing to score significantly.

When things weren’t going well for India’s chase, Shreyas and Samson had an important 99-run stand that helped the team get back on track.

Along with Axar, Deepak Hooda scored 33 runs in a 51-run partnership. At a vital point, rookie Avesh Khan also made a significant contribution with 11 runs.

In the meantime, Shai Hope’s century in his 100th ODI match was in vain as the Windies lost the game in the final 10 overs.

Prior to it, West Indies put on a strong batting performance to score 311 for six, led by Hope’s classy century and Nicholas Pooran’s six-hitting frenzy.

Hope focused on developing partnerships and detonated towards the end of his 115-run inning. He hit three maximums and eight fours during his 135-ball innings.

While Pooran used six maximums and one four to score 74 from 77 balls.

The best bowlers on show were Patel (1/40) and Hooda (1/42); Yuzvendra Chahal (1/69) also claimed a victim but at a high cost.

Avesh had a dismal ODI debut despite good work from Mohammed Siraj (0/47), but Shardul Thakur (3/54) made up for it by taking three wickets after giving up 13 runs in the opening over.
