In the series opener contested at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Friday, Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant knock of 97 earned him the title of Man of the Match.

However, half-centuries from Kyle Mayers and Brandon King were in vain as West Indies were defeated by three runs.

The fans got to witness a thrilling match yesterday in which India won and took the lead 1-0.

In the first innings itself, India posted a massive target of 308/7 thanks to half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer.

The 97 from Shikhar Dhawan, 64 from Shubham Gill, and 54 from Shreyas Iyer proved extremely helpful for Team India to win the series opener.

The best bowler of the match was Gudakesh Motie, as he finished with 2/54 in ten overs.

Half-centuries by Kyle Mayers (75) and Brandon King (54) while West Indies chased the target of 309 were in vain.

Just when Windies players Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd were about to finish across the line to help their side win, Indian bowlers took the charge and didn’t let them win.

Mohammed Siraj, who maintained his composure in the last over and helped his side win, became the best bowler for his side with 2/57 in ten overs.
